An Overview of the HCPSS G/T Program Please join the Gifted & Talented Parent Advisory Committee for this year's first Parent Academy on Wednesday, October 17 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 p.m at Howard High School. The HCPSS G/T Office will be presenting an Overview of the GT Education Program offerings from elementary through high school. GTAC Parent Academies are seminars open to all interested families in the county. PTSA Help Needed

Our PTSA is starting a new tradition this year by assisting the SGA and our staff with refreshments and volunteers at the dance! We appreciate your help with both! Theatre Dept News

-Work day for tech crew on Wednesday, October 10th from 2:30-4:30. We will be painting, going over safe tool usage and training on light and sound boards. -If you'd like to submit an ad to the Midsummer program, please visit: https://www.hammondhightheatre.org/midsummer Program ad submissions are due by Friday, October 12th and payment should follow within one week of content submission. All ads are in color and will be seen by over 1,000 audience members! -For anyone in the cast or crew who would like to march in the homecoming parade, please be out in front of Amherst House in the village center at 10am on Saturday, 10/13. Midsummer shirts will be in by then, so make sure yours is paid for so you can pick it up and wear it with us!

PIZZA WARS

MONDAY 10/8 from 7pm-9pm The annual food-eating contest previous held at Cheeburger Cheeburger and Buffalo Wild Wings is now being held at Hammond's cafeteria with Pizza Wars, how many slices of pizza each class can eat between the hours of 7 and 9pm tonight??? The winner receives points for Battle of the Classes. RULES: Pre-order by Monday and pick up your tickets at the door or you may purchase at the door You will receive 1 ticket PER food item you purchase, so 1 slice of pizza = 1 ticket. You will take your ticket(s) into the cafeteria and use them to "purchase" your food items There will be two volunteers by each food station to 1) give you your food and to 2) place your ticket into voting boxes for each class. People submit all their tickets to vote for their class or they can spread them out across multiple classes. The class to have the MOST amount of tickets (aka - food items eaten) by 9pm will WIN points toward Battle of the Classes

Winter Sports Information

Basketball, Indoor Track, Wrestling, Cheer, and Allied Bowling Winter sports tryouts start are right around the corner with a start date of 11/15. Here are some important dates and some important information for you. The window for online paperwork submissions for winter sports opens 10/1/18. See the attached directions for how to submit forms. Paper copies of forms are accepted, but online is highly preferred. Online submissions MUST come through a PARENT'S HCPSS Connect account. 11/15 - Tryouts begin! Times and locations for tryouts will come out shortly. REMINDER: 1st Quarter grades will determine academic eligibility for winter sports.
